Leader of Progression in Science (Years 7–9)

Teacher of Science (Physics or Biology specialist preferably)  

CONTRACT:              Permanent 

SALARY:                    MPR – UPR + TLR 2b

START:                      1st January 2026

 

Would you like to teach SCIENCE to students (11-18) with OUTSTANDING BEHAVIOUR and ATTITUDES?

 

WOOD GREEN ACADEMY is seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed, and well-qualified teacher of Science (Biology or Physics preferably) to take on the Leadership of Progression in Science ( years 7-9)

 

As an academy, we are over-subscribed and consistently achieve some of the highest results in Sandwell. In February 2020 the school was judged by OFSTED to be GOOD. We are extremely proud of being one of few secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes. This standard was maintained in our recent OFSTED inspection of April 2025.

 

We have an excellent location being less than 15 miles from the centre of Birmingham whilst having excellent national links via both the M5 and the M6.

 

As an enthusiastic and committed leader, you would join a welcoming, highly trained, and very supportive Science department.  The department is led by the Head of Science who is supported by the Head of Chemistry, the Head of Physics and the Leader of progression in Science. The department has also great experience in successfully mentoring both ITT trainees and ECTs.

    SEND Liaison Manager

    CONTRACT:                 Permanent – 32.5 hours/week (TERM TIME ONLY)

    START DATE:               As soon as possible depending on pre-employment checks 

    SALARY SCALE:          Band D (pt. 9-17) + SEND allowance

    Starting Pt 9 = £27,254* This would be pro-rata for hours and Term Time ONLY (=Approx £22,500)

     

    We are seeking to appoint a SEND Liaison Manager who will take on the responsibility of impacting on the educational and pastoral progress of learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. They will work in partnership with staff, outside agencies and parents/carers to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. They will share in the corporate responsibility for the well-being and discipline of all pupils.

    The successful candidate should be able to offer excellent communication skills and experience of working with young people would be an advantage. Applicants must have at least a grade C or 4 in English and Maths at GCSE/Level 2. Original evidence of qualifications will be required at interview.  

    This position provides excellent preparation for people who are considering careers in teaching and who are looking to gain experience of working with young people or working in a school setting.

        CLEANER

         

        Start: ASAP (Subject to Clearances)

        Contract: Permanent (52 weeks/year)

        Hours: 12 hours/week, Monday to Thursday 3.30PM – 6.00PM, Friday 3.30PM – 5.30PM

        Salary: Band A Pt 2 (£12.65ph)

         

        Description

        We wish to appoint a permanent cleaner to join our well-established cleaning team.

        The contract is for 52 weeks per year.

        Please note, cleaning experience is desirable.
