Would you like to teach Biology to students (11-18) with OUTSTANDING BEHAVIOUR and ATTITUDES?
Wood Green Academy is seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed, and well-qualified teacher of Biology.
As an academy, we are over-subscribed and consistently achieve some of the highest results in Sandwell. In February 2020 the school was judged by OFSTED to be GOOD. We are extremely proud of being one of few secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes. This standard was maintained in our recent OFSTED inspection of April 2025.
We have an excellent location being less than 15 miles from the centre of Birmingham whilst having excellent national links via both the M5 and the M6.
You would join a welcoming, highly trained, and very supportive Science department. The department is led by the Head of Science and Biology who is supported by the Head of Chemistry, the Head of Physics and the Key Stage 3 Science Lead. The department has also great experience in successfully mentoring both ITT trainees and ECTs.
Successful candidates will be:
- Highly motivated and passionate about providing all students with the very best educational opportunities.
- Experienced in teaching A Level Biology or eager to be supported and develop to do so.

- Committed to further developing their teaching and professional skills
In return, successful candidates can expect to work with enthusiastic and very well-behaved students who have a genuine desire to learn, to work with specialist colleagues who are friendly and supportive, and to be part of a school which values its staff and offers ample opportunities for professional development and advancement. Experienced teachers, ECTs (year 1 or 2) are all encouraged to apply.
