Vacancy: Learning Support Assistant
(fixed contract 1st Nov 2020 to July 21st 2021)
SALARY SCALE: Band B (£18,198 to £18,562) Pro. Rata.

27.5 hours per week, term time only

We are seeking to appoint Learning Support Assistants whose principle role is to provide in-classroom support to our students, under the direction of the teacher. The role involves providing both academic support and welfare support. These are fixed term posts, starting November 1st 2020 and last for the academic year. We are particularly interested in applicants who have the ability to support students in Maths, English and Science at Key Stage 4.

The successful candidate should be able to offer excellent communication skills along with experience of working with young people. They must have at least a grade C in English, Maths and Science at GCSE.

This position provides excellent preparation for people who are considering careers in teaching and who are looking to gain experience of working with young people, or working in a school setting.

Teacher of Health and Social Care
Start: January 2021

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed and well-qualified teacher to our excellent Health and Social Care Department to teach Health and Social Care at levels 2 and 3.

As an enthusiastic and committed teacher, you would join a welcoming and very supportive health and social care department. The department has 3 full time members of staff. The department is managed by the head of Health and Social Care and Food Technology. All members of the department also have responsibilities in other areas such as year leader and Literacy lead.

The Health and Social Care department is housed in a dedicated area of the school. Each classroom is well resourced with a PC for each student.

Wood Green academy is over-subscribed and consistently achieves some of the highest results in Sandwell. In our most recent Ofsted of February 2020 the school was judged to be good with outstanding features. We are extremely proud of being one of a small number of secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes under the new framework.
