Looking ahead to future pathways? SCL Core Skills are hosting an Open Day during the October half-term on Thursday 29th October 2026, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
All centres will be open for prospective students and families to explore the facilities, learn more about available courses,and speak directly with course tutors. It is an excellent opportunity to discover post-16 opportunities and get any questions answered.
Below is an overview of the programmes available at each centre, along with the additional student support packages provided.
West Bromwich, Dudley and Wolverhampton Centres
NCFE CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care: Covers Human Growth and Development,Safeguarding and Protection, Equality, Diversity and Rights, Communication, Working in Health and Social Care,Mental Health and Well-being, as well as Infection Prevention and Control.
Dudley and Wolverhampton Centres
Level 1 Diploma in Progression (SEN): Focuses on foundational skills for retail, hospitality, and business. Modules cover industry communication, confidence and self-awareness, managing social relationships, living in the community,diet and exercise, and enrichment activities.
Great Bridge (Tipton Construction Centre)
Level 1 Multiskills in Construction: Practical training covering health and safety, working in the construction sector,environmental awareness, bricklaying, timber product construction, working with joints, surface preparation for decoration, painting techniques, and wallpapering.
Dudley Centre
NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Business: Covers communication in a business environment, teamwork, delivering customer service, understanding business culture and responsibilities, business documentation production, and contributing to project management.

ID Passport: A dedicated one-day-per-week programme delivering essential employability skills, physical and mental wellbeing guidance, relevant local community topics, and pastoral support to ease the transition into post-16 life and employment.
Mentoring Programme: Dedicated one-to-one mentoring is available for any student who would benefit from tailored social and emotional guidance.
Supportive Environment: Small class sizes create a close-knit, supportive alternative to larger mainstream colleges,enabling personalised attention for every learner.
Progression and Funding: Every student has access to dedicated career advisors, structured work experience placements within their chosen sector, and eligibility to apply for a student bursary. The core aim is supporting learners into apprenticeships, skilled employment, or higher-level college courses.

Following the half-term break, Halesowen College resumes on Monday 2nd November 2026.
Wood Green Academy is pleased to share that Halesowen College will be hosting their second Open Event of this academic year on Wednesday 4th November 2026, running from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
This evening event provides a fantastic opportunity for prospective learners and families to visit the campus, explore the facilities, speak with course tutors, and find out about available post-16 pathways.
