We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news from our school community. Our Year 10 student, Yusuf Halim, has been elected as one of just five candidates standing in the UK Youth Parliament Elections 2026.
Voting opens on Monday 26th January 2026 and closes on Friday 20th February 2026, giving young people the opportunity to choose who will represent their voices on a national stage.
The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) gives young people aged 11 to 18 the chance to speak up about the issues that matter most to them. Members of Youth Parliament are elected locally and go on to represent the views of young people in their area at a national level, ensuring that youth perspectives are heard by decision makers.
Yusuf is standing to represent young people who feel unheard and frustrated by the same problems being repeatedly overlooked. His campaign focuses on improving mental health support, reducing pressure within schools, and addressing the rise in vaping, nitrous oxide use, and antisocial behaviour that can affect safety and wellbeing. He is also passionate about breaking the fear around reporting issues and challenging snitch culture, so that young people feel protected rather than punished when they speak up.
As a confident speaker and a strong listener, Yusuf is determined to turn words into action. He believes that young people deserve genuine representation that leads to meaningful change, not empty promises.
We are extremely proud of Yusuf and everything he has achieved so far. Being selected as a candidate for the UK Youth Parliament is a significant achievement and reflects his dedication, confidence, and commitment to improving life for young people.
If you are under the age of 18 you can vote and show your support and help Yusuf make a real difference by taking part in the UK Youth Parliament Elections 2026.
