If you are interested in entering the IT industry or wish do an IT degree and prefer a practical approach this is the course for you.

 
Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in IT Single (one A level equivalent) 5 hours a week over two years.

Unit F200: Fundamentals of Data Analytics (75 mins Exam) – 60 marks

  • – In this unit you will learn about the different methods of gathering, storing, analysing and accessing data and the legislation that needs to be complied with when working with data across different platforms.
 

Unit F201: Big data and machine learning (75 mins Exam) – 60 marks

  • – In this unit you will learn about data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). It will lead to big innovations in the future. You will learn about the legal and ethical issues in data management and how big data can be used in environmental work and social developments.

Both Units F200 and F201 are externally assessed examinations.

Unit F202 – Spreadsheet Data Modelling – (NEA unit)

  • – You will learn about the principles of data modelling with spreadsheets and the knowledge and skills required to plan, design, create, test and review a spreadsheet modelling solution that meets the needs of a specific client.
 

Unit F204 – Data and the Internet of Everything (IoE) – (NEA unit)

  • – In this unit you will learn the principles of the Internet of Everything (IoE), and the knowledge and skills required to plan, design and present an IoE solution that meets the needs of a specific client.
 

Unit F206 – Data and Digital Marketing – (NEA unit)

  • – In this unit you will learn the principles of Digital Marketing, and the knowledge and skills required to plan, design, create and review Digital Marketing material that meets the needs of a specific client.

Units F202. F204 and F206 internally assessed and moderated coursework (NEA) units.

Entry Requirements

Entry Criteria: 

All students studying  a Vocational Level 3 course should have at least five GCSEs at grade 9 – 4 (A* – C) in academic subjects, including English Language or English Literature at grade 4 (grade C ) and Maths at grade 5 (grade C).

 
Special Entry Requirements:
  • GCSE ICT 5+ (if studied)

Students must be prepared to work long hours outside lesson time to regularly review the topics covered.

Assessment Information

2 written exams and 3 coursework (NEA) units

All units are awarded pass, merit or distinction.

Progression Route

This qualification supports progression into further/higher education, training or employment into specialist pathways in IT Infrastructure Technician, Emerging Digital Technology Practitioner, Application Developer, Computer Games Designer, Website Designer, Cyber Security, Project Management and Data Analyst.
