Bereavement Support
Please find attached the new Loss Matters poster form Dorothy Parkes- this is a free eight-week programme for any adult affected by loss
Additionally, in partnership with the Sue Ryder charity, Sandwell Public Health are looking to introduce Grief Kind Spaces to Sandwell. To start this process there will be an introductory briefing session on Monday 30 September, 1.00 – 2.00pm on MS Teams. The session will feature a presentation on Grief Kind Spaces, what’s involved and how they work from Jayne Purshall, Grief Kind Spaces Area Co-ordinator at Sue Ryder followed by the chance to ask any questions and discuss how we can create some Grief Kind Spaces in Sandwell.
What are Grief Kind Spaces?
Grief Kind Spaces are a new service from Sue Ryder, offering weekly, in-person drop-in sessions held in the local community and run by trained volunteers.
The sessions are welcoming, inclusive, and open to anyone over 18 who has experienced a bereavement, whether they want to attend regularly to connect with others in similar situations or just drop in for a quick chat. The sessions provide a safe, informal and supportive place for people to come together and share their experiences of grief, helping attendees to feel heard and less alone.
Sessions take place weekly and in-person, anyone can drop in, and the sessions are run by trained volunteers. You don’t need any qualifications or previous experience, as all volunteers are trained to support people in a group setting, guide compassionate conversations and provide signposting to relevant support.
