Course Overview

 

A qualification in accounting will always be helpful – whether it’s used professionally or personally.  This course helps you to understand the responsibilities of the accountant and the impacts of their recommendations on the business and the wider environment.  You will build knowledge and understanding of key concepts, principles and techniques that you can apply to real-life situations, developing the ability to solve problems logically, analyse data methodically, make reasoned choices and communicate effectively.

Entry Requirements

Sixth Form Entry Criteria: 

A minimum of 5 9-5 GCSE grades, which must include a grade 5 or above in either English Language or English Literature. 

 
Special Entry Requirements:
  • GCSE Maths 5+

 

Students must be prepared to work long hours outside lesson time to regularly review the topics covered.

On both papers there are multiple choice, short answer, structured, extended and essay questions.  Students must be aware that the course is not just calculations – it is vital they can answer extended essay questions.

Progression Route

 

This subject opens the door to a wide range of opportunities in the financial world.  At the end of the course some students continue to study the subject at university, whilst others go into an accountancy apprenticeship and study for professional qualifications.
