Dear Parents/ Carers,
As you will be aware, the government has taken the decision to close all schools. As such, we will be operating remotely until further notice.
Provision for Key Workers and Children with EHCPs:
We will be doing our very best to provide care for children of key workers, children with EHCPs and those with social workers. As we cater for students aged 11‐18, it is unlikely that key workers will require the school to provide childcare for students in key stages 4 and 5. However, that provision will be available, should it be required. If you require child care please contact firstname.lastname@example.org , under the subject heading of ‘Key Worker – Your child’s name’. Within the message, please detail your child’s name, form group, your most up‐to‐date contact details and your occupation. To aid our planning, we must receive this information by 3.00pm on Thursday 19th March at the latest.
All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards until further notice.
Provision will be made for students in receipt of Free School Meals, and we will confirm these arrangements in a separate letter.
GCSE/ A Levels Examinations:
When we receive further information regarding the national GCSE and A Level examinations and Non‐Examined Assessments (NEAs), we will notify parents immediately. Currently, we have only the information given in the Minister’s statement and are awaiting detailed guidance from the Department for Education and Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).
It is still the expectation that students are working at home during the school day if they are well enough. As parents, please ensure your child is working between 9am and 3pm each day ‐ in addition to further Homework set. You have been emailed a copy of your child’s timetable to help provide them with structure and routine during this period.
All students will be set work by their teachers via Class Charts according to their normal school timetable. Please ensure you and your child check Class Charts every day to retrieve work.
How to… & FAQ:
If you need guidance on how to access Class Charts/ other online platforms, please see our school website: https://www.woodgreenacademy.co.uk/remote‐learning‐for‐students/
If you need further support with Class Charts or any of our online platforms, please email email@example.com clearly stating your child’s name, form, date of birth and your query.
Updates and Communication:
will be communicated to parents via email, the school website and the school’s
official social media pages.
Safeguarding and Welfare:
Remember the “Speak Out” button is available on our website if you have any concerns regarding the well‐being and safety of any child during this time. Please remind your son/ daughter that this is one way that they can keep in touch.
Respectfully, please could I ask parents not to phone the school with queries in relation to the announcement, as we have no additional information at this time and we need to protect the capacity of our reception staff at this exceptionally challenging time. Rest assured, when I have further information, you will be informed immediately.
Once again, many thanks for all your support
Mr J Topham Headteacher
