For many young people, the summer holidays can easily become dominated by phones, gaming, streaming and social media.

This guide offers reassuring, realistic advice for parents and carers  who want to encourage 11- to 16-year-olds to spend more time offline without making technology feel like the enemy.

Please find attached important information to help reduce the risk of grooming and provide practical safety tips to keep your child safe.  This continues to be a deeply concerning issue. According to the NSPCC, online grooming offences against children have increased by 89% over the past six years.

Seven out of ten teenagers report seeing violent content on social media, with more than half of that content involving physical fights. Among young people involved in violence, 91% say they have viewed violent material online. Parents can click this link for guidance on how to address this growing concern.

On 10th February, Wood Green Academy will be joining many organisations across the UK and around the world in celebrating Safer Internet Day. This also coincides with our SU4L Day, during which Year 9 students will be exploring important topics related to online safety.
