Community Cycling Offer

British Cycling is offering a 6–10 week community cycling programme designed to build participants’ confidence, cycling skills and independence. The programme begins with a taster session for a community group and can include Learn to Ride sessions, confidence sessions and led rides. Participants will also learn about bike maintenance, safe cycling and suitable local routes. At the end of the programme, at least two staff members or service users aged 18+ will complete a one-day Community Activator course, enabling the group to continue organising rides independently. Please see the Sandwell Community Cycling Poster for further information.

Starting secondary school is an exciting time for both students and their families, and staying up to date with what is happening at school is an important part of the transition to Year 7.

Class Charts is Wood Green Academy’s main communication tool for students, parents and carers. Through Class Charts, you can keep up to date with important information about your child’s school life, all in one place.

Using the Class Charts website or app, parents and carers can access information including:

• School announcements and important updates

• Homework and learning information

• Attendance information

• Behaviour points and achievements

• Other important information and updates from school

All new Year 7 students will receive their Class Charts account code in school. Students should use this code to set up and access their own account.

Parent and carer account codes have been sent to the primary email address(es) provided during the digital admissions process. Please check your inbox, including your junk or spam folder, if you cannot find your account information.

If your child has any problems accessing their student Class Charts account, they should speak to their Form Tutor, who will be able to help.

Need Help Setting Up Your Account?

If you need support signing up or getting familiar with Class Charts, you can use the Class Charts Parent/Carer Guide, which provides step-by-step guidance on using both the website and app.

If you continue to experience problems accessing your Class Charts account, please contact digihelp@woodgreenacademy.co.uk. A member of our IT Support team will be happy to work with you to get your account set up.

We encourage all parents and carers to set up their Class Charts account as soon as possible so that you can stay connected and informed throughout your child’s time at Wood Green Academy.

We would love for all parents and carers to join us for our Year 12 Parent Information Evening, whether your family is already part of the Wood Green Academy community or joining us for the first time.

During the evening, we will share insights into:

• – What makes A Levels and Level 3 courses different from GCSEs

• – What life in the Sixth Form looks like and our shared expectations

• – The importance of attendance and how we support independent study

• – Practical ways you can help your child enjoy a smooth, successful transition

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to Wood Green Academy Sixth Form and working together to support a wonderful year ahead!
